Glam, vintage-inspired interiors is only one reason the Hawthorn Dining Room and Bar in the Fairmont Palliser Calgary hotel is a destination spot on the Canadian city’s dining scene. The long-time restaurant underwent a renovation led by Frank Architecture and Interiors to energize the existing lobby area and create a boutique dining experience.
Designers went with a warm beige and wood palette, a mixture of furniture styles and incorporated existing elements of the space like the magnificent original stone fireplace. Preciosa worked with the team to deliver a large number of lighting fixtures throughout the restaurant including chandeliers, floor lamps, table lamps and wall sconces. Each of the lights is slightly different but share qualities (frosted glass or type of surface finish) that contribute to the restaurant’s eclectic environment.
Surrounding the bar are 16 glass spheres. These spheres make another appearance over dining tables in the form of six chandeliers accented with antique brass finishing. In another dining area, the chandelier has a uniquely shaped base finished in a rubbed bronze. The cocoa-coloured metal beautifully accents the mural hanging on the nearby wall.
