Bubble Rings

The Grandhotel Pupp is one of the most elegant and distinguished hotels in the Czech Republic. Located in the famed spa town of Karlovy Vary, the Pupp is the place to be when the annual Karlovy Vary International Film Festival rolls into town.

Preciosa crafted a modern bespoke crystal lighting concept, perfect for this new space.

The chandelier is reminiscent of a glistening water drop and holds its own in such an ample, decorated space as Marble Hall. Because of the soaring space, guests can enjoy a sparkling view from beneath the chandelier while enjoying their morning coffee, or a closer look from the hall’s first floor.

“This is where I found my inspiration. The warm, flowing water from the spring shares its energy from deep in the earth. As it bubbles to the surface,

I love the sparkle and the reflections; the movement is elegant and poetic. I wanted to express these impressions in Bubble Rings,” says Martin Prokeš, Designer of Preciosa Lighting.

Martin strives to take advantage of light’s refraction properties, playing with cuts, colours, and shapes.

“It’s always a little extra special for us to work on a project in our home country. We were delighted to combine traditional handcraft and bespoke design for a unique and prestigious property like the Grandhotel Pupp. This connection between two traditional and strong Czech brands is a joy to experience.“

Grandhotel Pupp

With a more than 300-year history, the Grandhotel Pupp looked to another traditional Czech company with a long heritage to create a bespoke installation for the Marble Hall, one of the hotel’s dining spaces. The commissioning of this chandelier was part of a larger renovation in a section of the hotel called Parkside, part of what the storied hotel is calling Pupp Modern. Karlovy Vary and its surroundings have been known since the Middle Ages thanks to their warm mineral springs.

As soon as we started discussing the possibility of a lighting fixture with Preciosa, it was clear that it would be a beautiful job. And it is really beautiful, both Preciosa and the Pupp are delighted with it.
