Falcon's Flight

The Reem Mall in Abu Dhabi is a major retail, dining and entertainment destination, also known for its innovative architecture. Our Dubai-based team worked with the developer, Al Farwaniya Property Developments, to craft a large-scale, dynamic lighting installation Falcon’s Flight for the mall’s north entry.

Falcons are an important part of the Emirati culture. They are seen as an embodiment of courage and nobility. This strong and loyal bird was the inspiration for the magnificent installation Preciosa created for the Reem Mall.

Through the lighting installation, the dynamics of flight have been captured, with warm, white LED lights symbolizing the trajectory of flight, further enhancing the overall experience.

Falcon’s Flight beautifully weaves together cultural heritage and falconry to symbolize flight and freedom. The piece showcases the story of two falcons in flight, honouring Abu Dhabi's proud falconry tradition.

Technology & Craft

Dynamic lighting installation in crystal

Falcon’s Flight includes LED modules for dynamic lighting effects which elevates the feel of the birds in motion. LED modules are installed in the bottom sphere to create the dynamic lighting effect as the light travels throught the two curves. Preciosa engineers also modelled the falcon’s heads using 3D printing and then shaped them in polished brass. No matter what project you’re working on, dynamic, statement lighting installations can be a welcome addition. Memorable experiences and wow moments are created through bespoke crystal lighting that connects visitors to the space and culture.
