The historic crystal chandelier from the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Hejnice has undergone its first complete renovation in more than 170 years. Experts from Preciosa Lighting renovated its beauty and brilliance, which was once again revealed during the ceremonial relighting.

The historic crystal chandelier in Hejnice was donated by local native Josef Riedel and crafted by the master artisans of Josef Helzel’s company from Kamenický Šenov. After more than 170 years, it has undergone its first complete renovation.

Experts from Preciosa Lighting carefully dismantled the chandelier and transported it to the heart of the Crystal Valley, where each of its components underwent a sensitive and respectful renovation.

A similar lighting fixture would be extremely difficult to produce today due to the high cost of skilled manual labor. Like many other applied art works of the 19th century, it was created at a time when handcraft was far more affordable, allowing masterpieces to be made that are now practically impossible to replicate.
