About

A bespoke glass installation for the Hilton Prague Old Town reception, where the silhouette of the historical city centre is sensed rather than seen. Preciosa Lighting designer Iveta Holíková translated this vision into Prague Panorama, a delicate landscape of memory shaped by rhythms of façades and the hushed dialogue of rooftops.

In the hotel’s reception area, carefully chosen handmade elements, suspended on fine wires, unite to create a composition reminiscent of a woven tapestry. In crystal, this composition reveals a singular vision of the city—woven from glass, light, and time.

The colour palette of Prague Panorama is grounded in earthy sand-amber hues and dove grey, selected to evoke the patina of time and the quiet nostalgia of old Prague. Subtle crystal sparkle animates the muted tones, introducing gentle flashes of light and an understated elegance.

The installation glows through thousands of crystal pendants and hundreds of triangular glass prisms, each differing in size, colour, and pattern, and each meticulously hand-cut by Preciosa Lighting glassmakers in Kamenický Šenov.

Architect Monika May envisioned the panorama of old Prague without its traditional landmarks, and so our designer Iveta Holíková created a concept capturing the atmosphere of the historic quarters – an urban landscape that is experienced rather than described, connecting the visual and literary memory of the city.

The main motif is the rhythm of Prague’s façades gradually shifting into the winding lines of rooftops. The result is a fragmented structure reminiscent of the city’s silhouette, where architecture transforms into landscape and the whole is shaped by subtle variations and repetitions.
