Platinum Circle and Gold Key awards held in New York

November is a big month for the hospitality design industry with two prized award ceremonies being held in New York. Preciosa believes in recognizing those who are injecting fresh energy and creativity into design and was pleased to be a part of both of these events.

Platinum Circle

Professionals who have dedicated their life’s work to the advancement of the hospitality industry are honoured with Hospitality Design magazine’s Platinum Circle designation. Now in its 30th year, the honour is presented to designers, architects, hoteliers, and restaurateurs. In 2018, the honorees were Nick Jones, founder and CEO of Soho House & Co.; Helen Jorgensen, vice president of design & procurement for Host Hotels & Resorts; J.W. Marriott, Jr., executive chairman and chairman of the board of Marriott International; Will Meyer and Gray Davis, founders of Meyer Davis; and The Gettys Group, recognized for 30 years of design excellence.

“Preciosa has been a gold sponsor of Platinum Circle since 2013,” said Michael Holy, Managing Director of Preciosa North America. “It is an honour to help recognize the most notable leaders in our industry and be associated with an event of this stature.”

Gold Key Awards

As part of BDNY, a key hospitality design trade fair, the Gold Key Awards are presented every year. Finalists and winners in 21 project categories were recognized at the ceremony gala, along with the 2018 Designer of the Year honoree.

Preciosa was pleased to participate in this event as well, awarding the winners in the Best Lounge/Nightclub to the Simeone Deary Design Group, Chicago for the Rosina Cocktail Bar and Lounge at The Palazzo Las Vegas as well as Studio 11 Design, Dallas for Analog at the Hutton Hotel Nashville. Presenting the trophy to the winners was extra special for Preciosa as we designed the lighting for the Rosina Cocktail Bar.

“It was a happy coincidence that I got to announce the name Simeone Deary on stage,” said Mr. Holy. “It was a wonderful experience working with them, and Rosina is a gorgeous space. All the projects presented by the Gold Key winners show the creativity and forward-thinking of designers in our industry.”

North America wasn't the only continent celebrating hotel and restaurant design. In Europe, the AHEAD Awards recognized cutting edge work on the other side of the Atlantic.
