The Monaco Yacht Show Comes to an End
The Preciosa team is just back from four fascinating days spent at the Monaco Yacht Show. We designed the Show’s trophies for their Gala Ceremony, debuted a new interactive installation for yachts and met great designers, shipbuilders and others connected with the luxury yacht industry.
Pearl Drop was a hit, luring people into our stand with a glowing crystal sphere. The light is one of our Signature Designs and is completely customizable. For the Show this year, the elegantly crafted light was redesigned for maritime purposes and for the first time, given both dynamic and interactive elements.
“Pearl Drop creates an intimate, poetic moment in interiors with the taking of the pearl and the sharing of your energy; it adds light and spirit to the space,” said Michael Vasku, Creative Director for Preciosa Lighting. “The light treats the pearl as something precious, and it shows the artistic way in which we understand light as well as our technical abilities.”
Preciosa was honoured to once again produce the official MYS trophies that were presented in four categories to superyachts participating in the show. Designer Lukáš Uliarczyk wanted to create an award that had the personality of a yacht, the shape and something that showed movement.
“The trophy can be seen as a monument to the sea as well as an artistic illustration of the bow of a ship,” he said.
Preciosa Lighting Creative Director Andreas Klug presented the Finest New Superyacht Award to Abeking & Rasmussen for Excellence. The full list of winners included:
RINA Award: Attila by Sanlorenzo
Exterior Design Award: Excellence by Abeking & Rasmussen
Interior Design Award: TIS by Lürssen
Finest New Superyacht Award: Excellence by Abeking & Rasmussen
The announcement that TIS had won the Interior Design Award was especially exciting for the Preciosa team as we had provided the lighting for the award-winning yacht. Preciosa created ten chandeliers and 12 wall sconces from hand-blown Bohemian crystal. The floral theme that runs through the lighting fits perfectly with the yacht’s overall light and classic design.
The Preciosa team is looking forward to new maritime projects as well as next year’s Monaco Yacht Show. Hope to see you there!
