Dreaming in Light

Through heat, time, and gravity, glass transforms beyond its original form, and fulfills dreams

About

Dreaming in Light

In dreams, the ordinary rules no longer apply. Boundaries dissolve, forms become fluid and possibilities expand. Dreaming in Light is an exploration of what happens when glass is approached with the same freedom of imagination.

It all starts with glass that dreams to be more than just flat and clear. Through fusing and slumping techniques that reshape glass through heat, time, and gravity, Preciosa offers designers a tool that behaves more like imagination than raw material.
Glass moves beyond its original form to reveal unexpected textures, depth, colours, and shapes. Glass ceases to just carry light, but choreographs it.
Dreaming in Light is an invitation for you to dream what your next project could look like. Because the most inspiring ideas begin with possibility, not limitation.

USP's

How dreams take shape

  1. Freedom through customisation

Fusing and slumping can be combined, layered, and adapted to a project’s unique demands. From single pendants to large-scale architectural installation, our techniques offer a level of bespokeness that others can’t match.
  2. Rich textures & surface expression

From fine surfaces to bold textures, fusing and slumping create a distinctive material language. Unlike mere applied finishes, these surfaces are formed through the glass itself, giving each component tactile depth and visual presence that responds to light.
  3. Light built into glass

By layering glass elements during fusing, we can introduce colour gradients, bubbles, nebula-like formations, and optical patterns directly into the internal structure of glass. The result is an embedded landscape revealed through light.
  4. Glass that transforms light

Every texture, layer and internal formation changes how light travels through glass. Diffused or directional, soft or dramatic, the desired optical behaviour of each component can be designed, giving creative control over how glass looks and acts.
  5. Unique by nature

While the process and parameters of these techniques are precise, alchemy still creates character. As no two firings are identical, each component produced through fusing or slumping retains an individual quality that cannot be fully replicated.
  6. Form without limits

Slumping allows flat glass to become curved, organic and sculptural. From gentle bends to complex three-dimensional forms, the technique allows glass to follow the designer’s vision, and not the other way round.
