How can lighting tell a story

Created by Preciosa Lighting Creative Directors Michael Vasku and Andreas Klug for Downtown Design Dubai 2026, A Sky of Stories explores a simple idea: light can inspire a story, but it takes more than light alone to bring it to life.

Meaningful spatial narratives emerge when light, architecture, materials, and human experience come together. By enclosing the space and inviting visitors to lie back and look up, the installation becomes more than a lighting display. It becomes an immersive experience, where everyone is free to discover a story of their own.

We want visitors to pause, look up, and experience light in a timeless way: lying beneath the night sky and letting their imagination wander. The installation creates an intimate moment of discovery while revealing the creative possibilities of Crystal Bicones. It shows how individual handcrafted elements can come together, much like stars in the night sky.

200 crystals. Countless possibilities.

Suspended overhead, 200 pieces of our Signature Design Crystal Bicones form a luminous canopy transformed by dynamic lighting scenes.

Five different sizes, various cuts, inner silvering, and bubbles give each crystal its own character, revealing the extraordinary possibilities for customisation.

But this is only the first chapter. The same Crystal Bicones could tell an entirely different story in another space, through another designer's imagination. Perhaps the next story will be yours.
