Preciosa brings the raw energy of erupting lava into crystalline form with two monumental lighting sculptures, Lava Trees. Inspired by the client’s vision, the concept was transformed into a striking outdoor installation that merges nature’s drama with refined craftsmanship. Positioned at the Porte Cochere, the twin sculptures rise to welcome arriving guests, embodying a powerful dialogue between art, architecture, and the relentless forces of nature.

The design of the Lava Trees captures the dramatic instant when molten lava surges from the earth, freezing mid-motion into sculptural form. This sense of suspended energy is accentuated by a warm, dimmable glow, lending the installation both intensity and quiet depth.
Each Lava Tree is composed of hand-blown crystal elements — spheres, cones, and bells in varying scales — rendered in a deep, carmine hue that evokes the intensity of molten lava at its most vivid.
Designed for an outdoor setting in demanding desert conditions, the installation reflects extensive testing by Preciosa Lighting’s R&D specialists to ensure exceptional durability in extreme environments.

Every outdoor installation faces the challenge of the elements. Through the expertise of our specialists and rigorous in-house testing, hand-blown crystal is combined with specially treated metal surfaces and protected electrical components to ensure the installation endures the extreme conditions of Dubai and performs with integrity.
