Blending crystal, colour and dynamic light, Drifting Lights made its maritime
debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026. For four days in Port Hercule, the
installation shifted and changed like the sea around us, drawing people closer
and opened conversations about what light can become on board.
Created by Preciosa Lighting Creative Directors Michael Vasku and Andreas Klug, Drifting Lights began with a simple idea: light should never feel still.
More than a decorative presence, the installation explored how light can shape the emotional character of a yacht. Subtle movement, shimmering reflections and changing viewpoints came together to evoke the tranquillity, wonder and freedom of being at sea.
28 glass panels
Across 28 glass panels of different sizes and orientations, bubbles and decorative patterns caught and reshaped the light. A dynamic RGBW system transformed the composition continuously, creating layers of colour, reflection and movement inspired by light drifting across the Mediterranean.
Developed by our in-house R&D team, Drifting Lights was originally conceived for luxury interiors. However, the concept can be adapted to the particular demands of yachts and cruise ships, where every creative idea has to be equipped to handle life at sea.
To everyone who joined us, shared an idea or simply stayed for a closer look, thank you. The show may be over. But some of the maritime conversations are only just beginning.
Signature Design
The Drifting Lights concept is a celebration of light set free within glass. Tiny bubbles drift inside the material like silent carriers that guide and bend light. The crisply aligned glass panels, suspended within a steel silhouette, are injected with static or dynamic lighting.
