The city of Gold is set to swap gold for crystal. For the upcoming Dubai Design Week, Preciosa Lighting wants to dazzle audiences with not one, not two, but three splendid showstoppers. The heartbeat of our presence is Crystal Beat – an installation that orchestrates of light, colour and sound that becomes an interactive oasis in the desert.

144 suspended and fully programmable crystal cubes
Work of art? Art of technology? Or perhaps Crystal Beat is just an abashed expression of our love for innovation! At the foundation of this interactive installation is a single crystal cube, carved from the finest Bohemian crystal in triplex opal.
144 of these ‘live’ cubes are suspended in space, to create a 'pixellated' canvas which users can interact with to create dreamy landscapes of vibrating lights.
Every side of every pixel can be individually programmed to display a different colour, thanks to proprietary LED technology. Visitors can weave their own retro narratives by programming these cubes from a separate screen, turning them into theatrical puppeteers of RGBW light and 3D sound.
Dubai is the perfect venue to present Crystal Beat! Just as the city synchronously breathes tradition, future, culture and technology, Crystal Beat radiates multiple textures of light, colour and sound from every cube. It’s our response to the shift in culture around us as we reach out to the future while reaching back to the past for nostalgia and retro comfort. Each suspended pixel thus becomes a graphic journey back in time, while absorbing the sensory delights of the present.
