The Clock of Light in Vratislavice nad Nisou is more than a landmark – it’s a living rhythm in the public space, where glass and light mark the passage of time in a smart, enduring, and dazzling way.

The tech behind time

  • A dual synchronized mechanism, guided by a long-wave antenna, keeps time with uncompromising accuracy.
  • Acrylic components simulate gear movement, echoing the charm of classic mechanical clocks.
  • The LED-lit dial glows in harmony with the nearby church tower, weaving the installation into its local setting.
  • Wireless DMX control brings the clock face to life, enabling shifts in colour and light that respond to moment and mood.

Design that stands the test of time

An outdoor clock must face wind, rain, and frost – yet remain a constant presence in the public space. At our development center, rigorous testing ensures that beauty and resilience go hand in hand.

Crafted from materials that keep their brilliance through the seasons, the Clock of Light is built to endure.

Details that matter

The subtle green tint of the glass mirrors the forests of the Crystal Valley, rooting the clock in its landscape. Its clock face, built from chipped glass tiles, becomes a mosaic of passing moments – fragments joining to form the whole of time.

And the light? It transcends function, carrying emotion that ties movement to space, and space to story.

Lighting

Colour like no other

The LED-lit clock face doesn’t just glow – it converses with the nearby church tower, reflecting its light and weaving the clock into the fabric of its surroundings. Through wireless DMX control, colours and scenes shift with fluid precision, allowing the clock’s face to change character throughout the day, always in harmony with its architectural neighbour.

A ticking tribute to Crystal Valley

For Preciosa, the Clock of Light is more than a project – it is a gesture of gratitude to the region that shaped its craft. As Lucie Karlová, CEO and President of Preciosa Lighting, explains, it is about giving back: enriching public space, bridging history with the future, and showing what is possible when artisanal precision meets technological strength.

The Clock of Light affirms that beauty need not be fragile. It honors the courage to innovate and embodies the belief that light, like time itself, is not only functional – it is profoundly emotional.
