Luxury is a byword for mega yachts but sometimes it seems that word is not enough to describe the opulence found on board. The Luminosity yacht, with interiors by Zaniz Ltd., takes the richness of setting sail to new heights.
The director of Zaniz Ltd, Zaniz, was inspired by artists and creatives when designing the individual spaces for the Luminosity. In the main dining area it was Henri Matisse and his cut-out work from the 1940s. Specifically, a piece called Les Bêtes de la Mer (Beasts of the Sea) whose swirling patterns of colour have inspired a polished swirl of lights in the main dining space.
The 5-metre installation is above the dining table and features polished mirror stainless steel sheets carefully curved to create the desired effect. This was one of the most challenging parts of the design. The designer knew what she wanted and Preciosa was the only company she found who could create the look she desired. For the bulbs, we created glass drops from high quality optical glass, some which feature a mirror surface finish for the ultimate in reflection. LED chip technology and fibre optics are included for illumination. For more flexibility, it is possible to turn on just some parts of the fixture.
We were pleased to also have worked with lighting consultancy Aqualuce on this original installation. The final statement from Zaniz: “I love how it turned out since it sat in my head since 2011!”
