Preciosa presents Clock of Light, an outdoor glass installation that has become a striking feature in the city center square. The project was created in collaboration with the local government as part of its long-term commitment to supporting the Crystal Valley region and its cultural development.

The Clock of Light brings life to the freshly revitalized square in Vratislavice, serving as a functional landmark and a captivating visual experience. Its modern technical design is enhanced by evening colour lighting. The lighting shifts throughout the day, harmonizing with the nearby church tower.

Designer Preciosa Lighting Petr Kořínek drew inspiration from the technical foundations of the city of Liberec. His Clock of Light is a masterful combination of timeless design and technical perfection.

At first glance, the clock captivates with its transparent dial, revealing a system of gears. Time is marked by bold yellow hands that contrast elegantly with the sleek black metal frame.

Technical mastery meets the artistry of craft

The Clock of Light in Vratislavice blends timeless design with the technical durability required for outdoor use. Powered by two synchronized movements controlled via a longwave antenna, it ensures precise timekeeping. Exposed gears mark the rhythm of time, while LED strips illuminate the dial and reflect off more than forty glass tiles arranged around its face. The entire system is wirelessly managed through DMX technology. Developed with input from Preciosa Lighting’s R&D team, the Clock of Light stands as a tribute to Czech craftsmanship, innovation, and the deep connection between light, glass, and time.

Vratislavice nad Nisou is a district of the city of Liberec. The region is renowned for its strong technical heritage, which is why the Clock of Light in the renovated square was designed with this principle in mind. Bringing life to the newly revitalized space, the Clock of Light serves as both a functional centerpiece and a striking visual experience.

Vratislavice unite the energy of motion, the mastery of craftsmanship, and the spirit of technical ingenuity. In the Clock of Light, I sought to transform this force into a poetic fusion – a gear as a symbol of rhythm and precision, crystal-clear glass elegance, and time as flowing light.
