The Mansion by MGM Resorts International

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

The Mansion by MGM Resorts International is one of Las Vegas’s most exclusive, intimate and luxurious properties. The hotel as well as the Mansion Casino & Lounge recently underwent a remodel. Preciosa, working with Natasha Sanchez from the MGM Resort International in-house design team, created more than 50 chandeliers, wall sconces and other lighting installations throughout the Casino & Lounge. Ms. Sanchez wanted to stay true to the roots of the Mansions which is inspired by 18th century villas in the countryside of Florence. She incorporated Spanish, French, and Italian inspired architecture along with art deco touches throughout.

The chandeliers can be found in the lobby lounge, entrance, luxurious lounge, the buffet, and the gaming salon. In the entrance, nine identical chandeliers line the space, featuring clear, ribbed hand-blown glass with mica (gold dust) and an aged antique gold bronze surface finish. This classical look is repeated in the other chandeliers, like the one in the lobby lounge which looks like a fountain. Ms. Sanchez wanted to give guests the feel of a piazza or plaza in the centre of a European village. It is a mix of hand-blown clear ribbed and twisted glass with an antique brass metal coating for the frame.

In the buffet, diners will discover a shaded chandelier with pops of colour. Ms Sanchez took inspiration from French and Italian patisseries and asked for lots of colour and whimsical details. Colours and the curved shaped fixtures were to be like elegant pastries on champagne, gold, and silver platters. The resulting structure features hand-blown glass in sky blue, amber frosted, petal, spring green, and rouge, while the trimmings brighten the look offering spring green, watercolour, rouge, Darjeeling, mist, and millennial frosted.

Designers decided on hand-blown clear ribbed spheres with mica for the contemporary chandelier in the luxurious lounge. The lighting here is supplemented by eight wall sconces with a similar look. Modern chandeliers are also found in the gaming salon, with the three fixtures created using hand-blown clear and seeded glass plus two metal finishes, gold bronze, and red honey.

For a sleek look in the Exquisite Bar, five types of hand-blown and hand-cut components stretch more than four metres along the bar. The installation consists of 26 pendants which were inspired by decanters and cognac whiskey. Finally, Preciosa is known for its mastery of glass, not just lighting. We created a glass bowl of fruit for the luxurious lounge, featuring a more than one metre bowl filled with hand-blown clear glass apples, pears, and balls.
