Inspiration from India

14. 3. 2018, India

Preciosa Lighting just spent a fascinating February in India, participating in two design events: FCDI’s India Arch Dialogue and India Design ID. We listened to interesting speakers, saw some beautiful brands and met lots of new people.

One of the most exciting things that happened was the official opening of the Preciosa Private Residence in New Delhi. Here, interior and architecture professionals as well as design lovers can discover the beauty and magic of genuine Bohemian crystal lighting. Designed in a space to feel like a home, on display are both historic chandeliers and contemporary pendants. We held our first event at the Residence, and were pleased to meet many wonderful interior design and architecture professionals.

At India Design ID, guests had the opportunity to discover our contemporary Eugene chandelier. It graced the VIP Lounge, which also included decor and design by Ralph Lauren and Fendi. Preciosa Lighting’s Creative Director Michael Vasku gave a talk about the Cultivation of Chandeliers at the event’s Symposium. He shared with attendees the history of chandeliers and the importance that heritage plays in creating contemporary lighting pieces for modern interiors. We were very pleased the Czech Ambassador to India also attended the discussion.

The Symposium overall hosted a variety of impressive speakers, including many regional architects who graciously shared their portfolios and experiences with the appreciative crowd. Massimiliano Fuksas and Doriana Fuksas from Studio Fuksas as well as Ron Arad were just two of the well-known names speaking at the event. Panel discussions were also intriguing, including one that studied colour and featured four different presentations covering living with, listening to, the history of and perceptions in colour.

Design, art and architecture is thriving in India, and Preciosa is excited to continue our work there, bringing the light of Bohemian crystal to homes, hotels and palaces across the country.
