AHEAD Awards celebrate design and guest experience in hospitality projects

Excitement was in the air as leading hotel owners, developers, operators, architects, and designers from across Europe gathered in London for the 2018 AHEAD Awards gala event. AHEAD honours creativity, innovation and excellence in the hospitality design sector and hosts regional events covering projects in the Middle East/Africa; Asia; the Americas and Europe.

A theme of ‘hippy chic’ meant love and good times were all round, backed by tunes supplied by a Beatles cover band. Nearly 1000 people packed the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge ballroom to honour the best in hotel and restaurant design from the past year.

Preciosa was delighted to be a sponsor of the event, recognising the importance of creativity in this industry, and celebrating the people who do it. Preciosa Lighting Managing Director UK Michal Dvorak presented the Event Spaces award to Ochil House at Gleneagles Hotel, Auchterarder, Scotland.

“AHEAD is a prestigious award, presented only after thoughtful review and consideration from a panel of judges comprised of some of the best design minds in our industry,” said Michal Dvorak, Managing Director of Preciosa UK. “Preciosa was pleased to be a part of this important evening, honouring the most inspirational and visionary hospitality projects across Europe.”

AHEAD comprises four annual, regional awards schemes run over a two year period, culminating in a global biennale. The worldwide celebration combines online public voting and jury selection to choose the final overall global winners in each category, based on a shortlist of winners from the regional events. The global biennale will take place simultaneously in London and New York on January 28, 2019.
