The Address Downtown Hotel is no newcomer to the Dubai hospitality market but people visiting for the first time would be forgiven for thinking so. In 2015, on New Year’s Eve, a devastating fire destroyed much of the hotel.
The Address Hotel is Emaar Hospitality Group’s flagship hotel property. They entrusted the refurbishment of the building to Middle East–based building design firm SSH and interior designers Meyer Davis out of New York. Preciosa worked with their ideas to create fresh and vibrant lighting throughout the hotel.
This was a large lighting undertaking – the bespoke projects feature 5500 glass pieces. The highlight is the stunning glass chandelier sparkling overhead in the reception area. The basic look is replicated in nine slightly different forms throughout the hotel. The pieces are made from hand-blown crystal glass in the shape of teardrops. Differing sizes and glass (some drops are clear, others are bubbled) make for an interesting piece, eye-catching from numerous angles. In addition to the reception, guests can discover this wonder dangling over the escalators and in the elevator lobby, just to name two spaces.
When checking in, guests are taken care of in a marvellous marble welcome area. Lights over the individual desks were designed by Preciosa, as were the glass vases at each space. A variety of other lighting from Preciosa can be found in the public areas. One special piece is the lighting fixture in the hotel’s spa. The elegant wave look was created using Preciosa crystal components.
