The Mondrian Doha hotel’s look is an eclectic blend of local culture and modern design aesthetic. This is the property’s first location outside of the United States, and like all Mondrian’s, took its fun design vibe seriously. Dutch designer Marcel Wanders along with South West Architecture were responsible for the bold and playful interiors that Mondrian is known for. Preciosa Lighting was pleased to inject some glamourous lighting into the spaces.
No one would deny that the Mondrian Doha is a very contemporary hotel. Interestingly, the designers chose Preciosa because of our experience with classic chandeliers. We created more than 650 lights for the hotel in both the public spaces and guest rooms. Lights ranged from chandeliers to solitaries to table lamps. The Mondrian’s lobby is the beating heart of the hotel, where guests gather and mingle, start or end their day and even just hang out because it is so cool. Here you’ll find two large golden bell-shaped chandeliers by Preciosa. Also in the lobby are 16 classic chandeliers, dripping in crystal trimmings.
The ballroom is a magical place, with décor inspiration taken from One Thousand and One Nights, a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales and stories. Twenty-three Preciosa chandeliers add a royal touch. Immense floor lamps (ranging from two to two and a half meters) complete with lamp shades and strings of crystals decorate a multitude of space throughout the hotel.
