Hotel Kansas City

KANSAS

The Hotel Kansas City is part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Its building dates back to the late 1800s when it was the Kansas City Club; one of the Midwest’s premier social clubs. Under the direction of the Simeone Deary Design Group, the hotel’s interior design preserves the historical value of the space. The property has kept many of its historical, Gothic touches but has been given a contemporary update.

Preciosa Lighting worked with designers to ensure history was carefully preserved while incorporating contemporary lighting fixtures. A sculptural light made of nylon tassel is unmissable in the hotel’s lobby. Two historical wrought-iron chandeliers were preserved and the contemporary lighting sculpture wraps around them, uniting the large space. The design creates an interesting, elegant dialogue. Preciosa engineers designed and built the installation’s frame, which needed to be extraordinarily strong in order to carry the weight of the whole lighting fixture.

The Town Company restaurant sports a warm and casual vibe, perfectly highlighted by Preciosa wall sconces. The fixtures feature clear glass tubes with a frosted surface finish and antique brass metal highlights. The hotel’s event space is complemented by two black metal finished Gothic-style chandeliers with suspended glass tubes. The lights are a contemporary take on the classical chandelier.
